Q. What is the relationship between World Cafe Live and WXPN?
A. Although we share a building and a passion for the nurture and preservation of great music, we are just friends. Sure, we enjoy each other’s company and partnering up on occasion, but that’s as far as we go. WXPN, the non-commercial radio station known for the nationally syndicated program World Cafe, licensed us the name World Cafe Live allowing us to create a clubhouse for the Philadelphia music community with a name that says it all.
Q. What is the difference between Upstairs Live and Downstairs Live?
A. The Upstairs Live cafe is a full service restaurant featuring a harmonious selection of fine food and drinks open for lunch, dinner and a tasty menu of eclectic live music most evenings. Reservations are recommended for parties of 6 or more and strongly advised if you are attending a performance and would like to reserve table seating. Call 215.222.1400 and follow the prompts. Downstairs Live is our music hall where we feature our major acts and special events. Downstairs Live features a full bar and restaurant, serving up tasty selections for most concerts. The Downstairs room is usually set up for concerts in one of 3 ways: Bistro: all tables and chairs, bar is standing room, tables are usually reserved seating. Roadhouse: some reserved or unreserved tables and seating with an open dance area. SRO: standing room only, very limited unreserved seating may be available.
